It's never to late, Break the Addiction

PHP Treatment Center In NJ

If a person can change their negative thinking patterns to positive ones, they can certainly realize positive outcomes.

When a person is fighting addiction but does not need 24-hour supervision, partial hospitalization treatment (day treatment) can work wonders in helping them recover. PHP treatment, like any other well-planned program, can provide the necessary support, medical monitoring, and education patients need to work toward a full recovery. During their designated day program hours, patients participate in structured activities that are quite similar to those offered in residential and inpatient programs. Some patients are allowed to step down from their inpatient program and enter this level of care because it can provide excellent support as well as structure.

Short-Term and Intense

PHP treatment is generally short-term and intense. It is more intensive than a traditional outpatient treatment program. While patients may experience acute mental illness symptoms, they do not require 24-hour care or around-the-clock supervision. Individuals may be required to attend three to five days a week, or more if necessary, and return home at the end of their day. Their session may last six hours. Safety rules may include no cell phones or shoelaces etc.

PHP advantages include:

  • Interactions with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other clinicians
  • An opportunity to develop skills to better manage one’s life and their addictive symptoms
  • Face-to-face therapeutic sessions
  • Active treatment

The program serves as an effective alternative to total inpatient care. Coupled with cognitive therapy, patients learn what drove their addiction, how to recover, and how to prevent future relapse. If a person can change their negative thinking patterns to positive ones, they can certainly realize positive outcomes. A situation may not change, but their reaction to it can. Stress and the feeling of being out of control are two elements that can lead a person down the road of substance abuse, and eventually to addiction.

CBT can also help individuals manage their sobriety and identify the elements that can cause a relapse. PHP works well for individuals who are well on the road to recovery. They are able to get the help they need and to get on with their personal lives in the meantime.
