It's never to late, Break the Addiction

Drug Rehab & Alcohol Treatment For Men

Men are twice as likely to abuse drugs than women.

Abuse includes marijuana, heroin, cocaine, and hallucinogens. Whether it is yourself, or someone you know that is abusing drugs, help should be sought immediately.

It takes courage to admit there is a drug problem and additional courage to seek help. Some men may also be confused because they are not familiar with the difference between outpatient and inpatient treatments. An outpatient clinic provides therapy sessions and classes. At the end of the session, the patient goes home. An inpatient clinic is where patients sleep, eat, and receive therapy until their program ends.

Are Men More Prone to Abuse Drugs?

Social factors may be the reason that men are more prone to take drugs than women. Women generally feel more shame and stigma around other women who abuse drugs. Men have a macho attitude and more of a carefree approach when it comes to abusing drugs.

Rehab treatment for men at a professional and licensed facility is comprehensive. First, an assessment is made concerning their health and medical background. All medical records are gathered and an intake specialist will work with the client to help them through the payment process. The patient will also be screened to gain insight as to what chemicals might linger in the body. Then, the patient is ready to enter their treatment plan, which is designed especially for them. No two people are the same, and their treatments will vary as well.

Through the rehab process, patients are monitored to make sure their treatment plan is on track. Adjustments can be made along the way to treat both physical and mental illnesses. The goal, through cognitive behavioral therapy, is to help the patient change their thought patterns, which will change their behavioral patterns. Patients are taught to change how they react to a situation, even though the situation may not change.

CBT works. When patients graduate their program, they are aware of the elements that cause their addiction, and they have the tools and support to live a life of sobriety.
